Privacy Policy

Welkome ("we", "our", "us") operates the Welkome platform at welkome.app — an AI-powered welcome guide tool for short-term rental hosts. We are based in France and subject to French and EU data protection laws, including the GDPR.

When you create an account and use Welkome, we collect:

• Account data — name, email address, authentication via Clerk.
• Property data — names, addresses, Wi-Fi credentials, house rules you enter.
• Usage data — pages visited, guide views, language preferences, feature usage.
• Billing data — handled directly by Paddle. We store only your subscription status.
• Guest contacts — names, emails, phone numbers you optionally add (Pro feature).

We do not collect payment card numbers. All payments are processed by Paddle, our billing provider.

• To provide and improve the Welkome service.
• To generate AI-powered welcome guides using OpenAI.
• To send transactional emails (account, billing, alerts).
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the product.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

• Clerk — authentication and user management.
• OpenAI — AI guide generation. Your property data is sent to OpenAI to generate guide content.
• Paddle — payment processing and subscriptions.
• Supabase / PostgreSQL — database hosting.
• Vercel — hosting and analytics.

Each provider processes data under their own privacy policy and data processing agreements.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., billing records for 10 years under French tax law).

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of your data.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your data.
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format.
• Objection — object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise these rights, email privacy@welkome.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés).

We use session cookies for authentication and preference cookies (language, currency). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. No cookie banner is displayed because we only use strictly necessary and preference cookies.

We use HTTPS for all data in transit, and encrypted database connections. Passwords are never stored — authentication is delegated to Clerk. Despite our measures, no system is perfectly secure. Please use a strong password and enable two-factor authentication on your account.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notice of material changes. Continued use of Welkome after such changes constitutes acceptance.
